NPB FAQ

FAQ and Regulation

  • Accounts can be opened at NPB Neue Privat Bank AG following a face-to-face discussion. It is very important to us to develop a genuine and longstanding relationship with our clients based on trust.

  • Clients with investable assets of approximately CHF 1 million or more can benefit from bespoke discretionary investment mandates tailored to their individual objectives and needs.

  • As a Swiss bank NPB comes under the supervision of the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA). Ernst & Young AG have been the bank’s external auditors since it was established. It should be noted that under Swiss legislation all portfolio assets (securities and fiduciary deposits) held at a Swiss bank remain the property of the clients.

As an asset management bank, NPB is very sound financially thanks to its equity ratio, which far exceeds the legal minimum. The credit business has been the principal cause of the small number of bankruptcies and imbalances suffered by Swiss banks in the last 200 years. Against this background NPB is very conservative in its lending; only granting credit when it is collaterally secured. For further credit requirements, we are happy to refer our clients to suitable partners.

  • Banking secrecy covers all data that is obtained in the course of a business relationship between banks and clients. The client’s right to secrecy is protected under the Swiss Federal Law on Banks and Savings Banks. Discretion at NPB means that this right is observed in every respect, something which is naturally easier for a smaller bank to do.

  • The Automatic exchange of information (AEOI) in tax matters is of core importance in increasing tax transparency at the international level. It is a standard in accordance with which tax authorities in the participating countries exchange information about taxpayers' bank accounts and custody accounts. So far, over 100 countries have announced to apply the worldwide AEOI standard.

You can find out more about AEOI by following the links below.

  • NPB Neue Privat Bank AG is an owner-managed Swiss private bank. As entrepreneurs, we emphasize personal responsibility, performance and foresight. The protection of our clients' assets and transparency is a high priority for us within the framework of a sustainable joint business relationship. The information below should help you to understand important aspects of the investment business and investor protection. The following investor protection principles are based on the Swiss Federal Financial Services Act (FinSA, ger. FIDLEG; "FIDLEG") and the European Directive on Markets in Financial Instruments, ("MIFID II").

If you activate with USD 365 or more, it is charged only when your total assets first fall below USD 300; until then, transfers, withdrawals and card payments cannot take total assets below USD 240. • The first qualifying card purchase of each calendar day gets 100% cashback, and further purchases that day up to 70%. Cashback is paid out of your courtesy credit balance, so total cashback can never exceed that balance; it is not extra money on top of it. Some merchant categories are excluded, and cashback on refunded purchases is reversed. Do not estimate your benefit from the highest percentage alone.

Periods that miss the condition are not credited or made up later, so the full amount takes about three years. Tier A (USD 150 activation) receives only USD 5.

  • Up to USD 365 of courtesy credit for each referred client who opens their first debit card with USD 365 or more. It is paid like the First-Account Courtesy, USD 15 then USD 10 for up to 35 periods, but each instalment requires your own average current-account plus debit-card balance to be at least USD 300 in that period. If the client activates with USD 150, you receive only USD 5, once your own debit card is open and your current account plus debit card total at least USD 100.

  • Yes. If 3 of your referred clients first become effective clients in the same calendar month, you receive USD 365; if 10 do, USD 1,825. Only the highest level reached counts, and each client counts once. An effective client has verified their identity, opened an account and keeps a monthly average current-account plus debit-card balance of at least USD 300. The bonus is courtesy credit paid in instalments, subject to your own monthly average of USD 300.

  • Courtesies are promotional benefits, not investment returns, and are paid only when their conditions are met. First-Account, referral and headcount courtesies are courtesy credit: usable only against card spending, not part of total assets and not protected deposits. First-Deposit and Monthly Courtesies are paid in USD to the current account. Missed periods are not made up, tier changes are not retroactive, and cashback on refunds is reversed. Business introducers and partner service providers have separate programmes, including a minimum 30% share of effective clients. The rules shown in the app at the time prevail.
